Wivvies as a company has had quite a "bumby road", which might be interesting to some people. Wivvies was started by Flemming Schibstad and Michael Lundager.

Wivvies started in 2006 in Silkeborg, Denmark with the business idea of creating screen cast videos for software and place it on the Internet to create advertising income. This was right before Youtube took off and become a major Internet player and at the time it seemed like a great idea, but we got railed by players like Youtube before we even got started.

Then we moved the company to Jakarta, Indonesia realizing that software development costs in Denmark was too expensive for prototyping and highly risky projects. Michael had at that time lived in Indonesia earlier and it seemed like a reasonable idea to move the business.

In the fall 2007 Wivvies got the first outsourcing order. The order did not come from software development that was the original plan but instead from an architect company in the booming building industry in Denmark who needed visualizations and BIM models. At that time it was hard to find qualified employees in Denmark to provide these services.

From 2007 to 2008 we managed to build an organization with 28 people in Jakarta, Indonesia and deliver tons of outsourcing projects.... things were good and we also managed to structure the company so it was possible to expand even more.

Then in 2008 the financial crisis hit Western Europe and USA and suddenly the boom times were converted to something near recession. Wivvies was deeply dependent on the Danish building industry that was in ruins and while Danish architects and engineering companies got rid of personnel they also cut more or less all outsourcing work away.

We spent 2½ years downsizing Wivvies from 2008 to early 2011. Michael Lundager took over Wivvies 100% early 2011 and in April the last employee was gone. Wivvies was not closed down but had no employees but also no liabilities.

From april 2011 until now Wivvies has survived by creating small consultancy tasks and web page development tasks for companies and it is the goal to continue that path with slow growth in the future.
